Hi everyone,

I'm sorting through some issues for forum/website users after I took the plunge on changing the way BTR serves pages...a couple of questions:

1) any mac users out there that have successfully been able to log into the site and access the forum?

2) can folks see the tables (after clicking on images to enlarge) here:

biketechreview.com/reviews/wheels/63-wheel-performance

Any other feedback/issues for the new CMS I've employed, please post here in this thread.

thanks for your help,
-k

Too small, though.

I think the maximum size for images should be increased if possible.

I tried using the size feature of the image token... for example:

URL

But this didn't do anything.

For example:

size = 400:

size = 600:

I'm using AOL 9.1 and the Google Ads plus other pop up type ads are displayed on top of the website pages. I can't minimize them or close the small windows. Similar problem using Internet Explorer but the Google ads are cut off but at least not blocking the page content on the forum page but the same problem with the Google ads laying on top of the Home Page.

ok - I think I tweaked things in order to fix the smallness issues...

still trying to figure out the

[/img]

deal, though. I have some potential paths to pursue on this one.

As it stands right now, though - a step in the right direction?

Thanks for the feedback.

I have disabled the ads in the article content for now (but left the ads on the right sidebar of the main site and the left sidebar for the forum, Al, until I find a workaround for the overlaying issues -> there should not have been any pop-ups (not intentionally, anyway) - could you please let me know if things are displaying better on the main site for you now? (the forum should display the same for you)

anybody else getting pop-ups? Sorry about the ads, folks, but they are an unfortunate necessity.

I'll do my best to find a better solution - there are some other paths to pursue as I figure out what all the knobs and dials on the backend of this sucker do!

please keep the feedback coming!

thanks,

Thanks Kraig,

Using AOL on the Home Page all looks good when I'm using the full screen display but when using the smaller page the Google Ads intrude from the right hand side and cover up some of the page content. It appears that the ad is larger than the box allocated to it - hopefully that makes some sense ??

On the Forum pages it's NOK on both the full and smaller screen displays. The difference is that the ads are on the left side of the page - if fact there is an ad for the Pro29 Mt Bike covering up half the emoticons as I type - can't get to the smiley.

Hope this helps - the new site looks good,

Al

The new photo size is much better! Honestly I'm not sure how the size element is supposed to work -- this forum is the first place I've seen it.

very helpful Al!

I was able to reproduce the problems you were experiencing...after turning a few knobs and tweaking some things (in a more or less random caveman way! ) ...I think I've got things moving in a better direction. Hopefully, the content is protected now, and the ads are being trimmed at the lower resolution/width browser settings.

any better on your end?

Thanks Kraig - much better but the adds on the left hand side are still intruding a little into the posting area. Maybe another few taps of the caveman club . But the good news is that the smiley is now accessible.

As you can see, this caveman punted, and moved things to the right...not a huge fan of that location, but it'll have to do!

Is the content/posting area protected now?

Actually the poll and ad for Alterian now intrude slightly into your first post in the thread from the right - all the buttons are accessible in the post but your avatar and info are covered. No problem with the rest of the posts. When writing this reply however the ads are well behaved.

Looks good on Firefox 3.6.

Forgot my password and the system did to, so I get to try out the password recovery feature too!

Lets try a picture upload too.

Ok, so I tapped things a bit more on the forum side of things with the caveman hammer this evening.

it's definitely related to when the ads get served (so I changed the width of the ad being served)...cuz, even on my little phone screen, things look like I'd expect (though, no ads get served on my phone...)

also, definitely some issues with how things look when viewed on ie6...not sure how many folks are on that, but the machines where I work seem to be stuck in the stone age since they are still on ie6...hey, now I know who to blame for my caveman tendencies!

Thanks Kraig,

Worked like a charm. Only suggestion I would make is turn off threads subscriptions by default and let people choose to subscribe to threads. Otherwise things seem to working well.

Ok, I flipped a couple of switches on the backend here, and I think I made the default be an unchecked box next to the subscription deal.

Let me know if I flipped the wrong switches...I'll figure it out eventually!

keep the feedback/issues coming, folks!

Private Messaging capability has been added (should show up when logged in and accessing your profile)...though, all old PM's could not be carried over.

If you want all your old PM's from the old board shoot me a PM/email and I can dump userid associated information from the database without too much issue.

If the right and left margins could be combined into a single margin it would be a lot better. A lot of white space and the primary content gets squeezed.
